 In May 2010 we arrived in France to get the keys to our new house. We have started renovating already and also started to visit local places of interest We have installed a WebCam (mounted on or house) showing rue des Faures. This is a day/night vision camera so you can view it 24hrs per day. The username is 'visitor' and there is no password. | ||
For our Project here in France we were inspired by not only our love for travel, but two TV programs, Relocation Relocation with Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp, and Grand Designs with Kevin McCloud. |

Our Story: We have alway been keen travellers, starting in 1973 when our children were still young we travelled overseas at least once every two years. In 2003/4 we went to the USA for 1 year (Carole was on an Exchange Teacher Program) - we lived in North Carolina. Before departing we purchase land in Langwarrin (Melbourne) with the plan to build a new house on our return. On our return to Australia we built the new house in a "premium estate" to enable us to build equity in preparation for retirement. We also started researching properties in Italy and France finally narrowing the search down the France, then the Limousin area based on properties available, prices and country. Carole-Ann was the master of the research and spent many hours on the internet searching for properties and relevant information regarding purchasing and residence requirements. In September 2008 we came to France for a short exploratory trip to look at the area we had short-listed for our search. In September 2009 we sold our house in Langwarrin and bought a smaller one in the same area (different estate) and moved in January 2010. We also retired in February 2010. In February 2010 we travelled to France on a buying trip and, using the proceeds of our downsizing, purchased our french stone village house. In May 2010 we returned to France to collect the keys to our new house, buy a car and settle in. In April 2011 we returned to continue our adventure in France. | Notre histoire: Nous avons été alway voyageurs désireux, à partir de 1973, lorsque nos enfants étaient encore jeunes, nous avons voyagé à l'étranger au moins une fois tous les deux ans. En 2003/4, nous sommes allés aux États-Unis pour 1 an (Carole a été sur un programme d'échange d'enseignants) - nous avons vécu en Caroline du Nord. Avant le départ, nous avons acheté des terres dans Langwarrin (Melbourne) avec le projet de construction d'une nouvelle maison à notre retour. A notre retour en Australie, nous avons construit la nouvelle maison dans un «domaine premium" pour nous permettre de bâtir un capital en prévision de la retraite. Nous avons également commencé des recherches sur les propriétés en Italie et la France a finalement limiter la recherche à la France, puis la région Limousin basée sur les propriétés disponibles, les prix et les pays.Carole-Ann a été le maître de la recherche et le passé de nombreuses heures sur internet, la recherche de propriétés et d'achat et les renseignements pertinents concernant les conditions de résidence. En Septembre 2008, nous est venu en France pour un court voyage d'exploration d'examiner la zone que nous avions présélectionnés pour notre recherche. En Septembre 2009, nous avons vendu notre maison en Langwarrin et a acheté une plus petite dans la même zone (immobilier différentes) et a déménagé en Janvier 2010. Nous avons également pris sa retraite en Février 2010. En Février 2010, nous nous sommes rendus à la France lors d'un voyage d'achat et, en utilisant le produit de notre réduction des effectifs, a acheté notre maison française de village en pierre. En mai 2010 nous sommes retournés en France pour récupérer les clés de notre nouvelle maison, acheter une voiture et de s'installer en En avril 2011 nous sommes retournés à continuer notre aventure en France. | |
